Internationally recognized for the quality and variety of its programs, Johnson & Wales became the first school in the country to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in the Culinary Arts in 1993, also introducing a Bachelor of Science degree in Baking and Pastry Arts in 1997. Since its beginning in 1973, the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University has quickly grown to become the world's largest foodservice educator, with more than 5,100 students enrolled in culinary arts programs University-wide. Distinguished alumni include celebrity chef, author and television host Tyler Florence, who graduated from the College of Culinary Arts in 1994.
